Filming began today in Dubrovnik for the third series of the hit HBO serial “Game of Thrones.” Speedboats and other boast were needed today as special cameras were strapped to vessels for filming special effects at sea.

The production crew gathered in Mlini, near Dubrovnik, and unloaded two trucks of equipment needed for the days filming. Apparently one of the cameras used was a half-million Euro special effects camera for shooting on nautical locations. The set today was the island of Mrkan just off the coast of Cavtat. It is believed that rough sea shots were filmed as well as using a replica of a historic Dubrovnik ship in some scenes, however no actors were spotted on location today.

According to unofficial information the film clapboard should be heard in the Old City of Dubrovnik and Trsteno in the coming days.
