Game of Thrones has come to town! After months of rumours and speculation the clapperboard fell today and the camera started rolling in Dubrovnik on the globally popular HBO series Game of Thrones. The first location used was on the city walls and in the fortress Minčeta. Tourists and locals had their heads turned as part of the historic old city resembled a scene from the 16^thcentury. Extras, dressed in full costume, wandered the streets in temperatures that reached 30 degrees.

A cordon of security guards blocked the entrances and exits to the city walls around the Minčeta fortress and a great deal of the parking spaces around the city were taken by the production crew. It is believed that Dubrovnik will be the location for the city of King's Landing in the series. Filming of the second series of Game of Thrones is expected to last for six weeks in Dubrovnik and it is believed that the next location will be the St. Dominican Street, also inside the city walls.
